More pictures

Flowers down my road.
Isn't her butt cute? This is what she does everyday around 4:00. She sits in the window and waits for me to come home. Besides my husband, no one else can match her loyalty.

This is Frank. He is the new "cock of the walk" at my home. He is actually quite a mellow guy. I play grab butt with him and make him jump. ;p I am onery.

My mom will be placed in a nursing/retirement home this week. She has Alzheimer's, and it is far worse than what I had thought. She was found wondering this last week, so I am left with no choice. I know I am making the right decision, but I sure hate doing it. The upside is that the nursing center is only 5 minutes from me. It is a very nice facility with a country type atmosphere. I do not have to worry as much about her, and I can visit everyday. The downside, she has Alzheimer's.
Take care and God Bless,
Kay

Oh Boy!

Good grief. The past 4 weeks have been nothing short of trying, and I am too bummed to even blog about them. I will just post some pictures I have taken lately.

Take care and God Bless!

Drool Worthy Yarn Pr0n

Got your bib? Good!

Feast your eyes on this beauty:

Isn't she purty? :) It is a gift given to me by a wonderful friend who happens to travel to Uruguay every so often. He has good taste doesn't he? Ya know what else, he's single ladies! He's quite the catch now! ;p The picture doesn't do the yarn goodness justice. The colors are wonderfully saturated. Many thanks to the Rey de las tanques de leche! Now I have to decide what to make from it. Sumtin' sumtin' special for sertain.

My new project using TLC Cotton Plus that Bezzie gifted to me two years ago I believe. I had to find the right project. I am going to knit the Vine_Lace_Vest. It is more like a cardigan to me, but whatever, no sense in getting caught up in the minutia. It is a Ravelry link, so if you do not have access to the site, you cannot see it. Trust me, it is pretty. I have the perfect amount of yarn so I can make modifications as I go along, like lengthening the waist by 3 - 4 inches, and some other things I have in my mind to do, but am unsure if I can pull them off. I have the coolest vintage button to use on the sweater. It is about 2.5" diameter, and bit lighter in color than the yarn and has a sweet silver trim around it. A match made in heaven!

Squee...Sisal Love

Take care and God's Blessings to Everyone!

That Creative Bug Strikes Again

Let's take a trip in the Way Back machine kids, and view an embroidery project I did when I was in 3rd grade:
Look below the butterfly's butt, I embroidered my name Kay R. just incase I became famous or sumtin' like that. Hee

Fancying up the dishcloth picture by adding a border around it! Actually, the only reason I did that is because the picture was taken on my ironing board, and the board has a little stain on the padding, so I hid it :)

To say I am proud of this last piece would be an understatment. First, it is crochet; second, it looks really good!!!

Finished ____ (fill in the blank Tears Scarf) from Spring or Summer 2008 Interweave Crochet.

The pattern calls for placing beads randomly on the scarf. I did not like how that looks on the pattern. I added very vintage bone buttons on each end of the scarf. It looks great! Also, I added a double crochet border around the entire scarf. The pattern just has the scarf edges looking very unfinished and professional to me. The edging really makes a difference in how the scarf looks.

I think I found a good pattern to use with the TLC cotton plus I have. I am getting started on it this weekend. That will be done in between getting rid of a ton of stuff to make room for my mom's things. She is moving in the last week of June.

Take care and God's Blessings.

Sewn Launch Party Give-a-way

**Edited for more fun!!! I have added to the prize two more pieces of fabric (not vintage, but oh so cute), and some thread. Up until June 8th, I will add one more prize each day. Not sure what it will be, but I believe you will either find it useful or just down right cool :)**

Here is a Fun, fun give-a-way that I am participating in!

SEWN is a new and innovative online quilting and sewing community for lovers of fabric crafts. There will be Tips and Innovative Tools to help with your projects, an Advice Centre for all your sewing questions, online forums and chats, free patterns, and information on your local shops, sewing groups, quilt groups and classes. Go check out the website (sewn.net.au) and by joining the SEWN Launch Party you are also in the draw for more terrific prizes. I am envisioning a site much like Ravelry. Squee!

Drawing is held June 8th.

Here is what I am giving away to one lucky winner:

A couple of pieces of fabric. The white w/ blue flowers is really cool for a couple of reasons. It is approximately 30 years old, and the blue flowers are velvet like!

Yo-yo's! Who doesn't love them? Some are already made, and I am also sending along some cut out circles just waiting to be made.

Lastly, but certainly, not leastly :) Quilting squares -- vintage -- I mean like alot of the fabric is 50+ years old vintage. They are small squares which is a shame, because that means I will NEVER make a quilt from any of them. My laziness is your gain though! Cool thing is that I am only showing you half of the quilting squares. You, the lucky winner, will have more than enough to make a really neat quilt or whatever.

Make sure you provide a way for me to contact you so I can send you the prize! :)

Sign up for SEWN, enter the site contest, and please make a comment in this posting for your chance to win!

I cannot wait! :)

Take care and God's blessings.

Long Time No Blog To

Yeah, yeah, I know where have I been? I've been living life in lieu of living in front of a computer. For the most part, I just do not enjoy blogging, Ravelry, or Facebook anymore. I check Facebook more often just because I post videos I like and scriptures/writings that I find important. I use Ravelry for pattern searching, and keeping up with the few people I like. I will always enjoy seeing their pieces of art they create and to get a glimmer of what makes them tick.

During this time of actually living life, I conquered the freaking Granny Square! Hee hee It has only been about 6 years of trying -- not long -- not long at all. Good gravy, what a freakin' idiot I have to be. In achieving what should have been a no brainer, the doors of crocheting have been thrown wide-open for me!!! That really excites me. It excites me so much that I am crocheting Arachne's Tears Scarf from the Spring 2008 Interweave Crochet. And even though the scarf has nothing to do with a square of any sort, it does have a design in it! Got that peeps! A design! Can you tell I am fired up! :) If you want to see it, go to Ravelry and look at my projects page. I have it listed there (not a picture of my WIP, but you can see how it is suppose to look). I would link, but anyone out there who knows me just a tiny bit, knows that I am too lazy to link. !Que lastisma! (Can't find the upside down exclamation point.)

Meet the Granny Square. It is not blocked, and I am sure an expert or heck a novice could pick it apart for problems, but I am extremely happy to have actually been able to make this sucker. So, if you're thinking you want give me a few tips, just don't. Let me bast in the glory.

For those who love to sew, quilt, etc...there is a new website http://www.sewn.com/ (hee there's a link for you). It appears to be created to be much like Ravelry, but just for sewing crafts. The big grand opening is the first of June. If interested, go sign up. There is not much to see right now, but I have my hopes up that it will be a really cool site. Bezzie, your mom might enjoy this site since she is into quilting.

I have knitted 4 Christmas presents so far. I have no one in particular in mind for the gifts though. That will get figured out closer toward the holiday. I want to knit a cardi or some pullover out of the TLC Cotton Plus that Bezzie so generously gifted me. I just want to find the perfect pattern.

I start American Government in about 2-1/2 weeks. This may sound strange coming from a girl who loves politics, but I am dreading the heck out of this class. I am envisioning a liberal minded prof. who loves nothing more than to trash conservative leaning peeps. I truly hope that will not be the case. It is only an 8-week summer class though, so it will begin and end quickly. My Fall class line up is Espanol 201 y Quimica. Chemistry scares the daylights out of me, so I really hope I do well in it.

I will end with a post that will make you faint away dead from the cuteness of it, and no, it is not of the Pig.

We let some of our hens sit and hatch babies. Oh my gosh. They are so darn cute w/ their mommas. :) And no, they do not stay in their "playpen" all day. They free range during the day and go back to the Chicken Palace to eat some corn and hit the hay! Ha! I made a funny. I can crack myself up :)
Take care, and God's Blessings to all,

Kay
